Drake has seemingly entered the conversation in support of his mentor.

Shortly after the clock struck midnight on Wednesday, Drizzy shared several photos of Lil Wayne to his Instagram Stories amid fierce online debate on if Lil Wayne should have been selected to perform at the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show.

As you're likely aware by this point, Kendrick Lamar, who was involved in a high-profile beef with Drake this year, announced on Sunday that he'll be performing at the game, which will take place on February 9, 2025 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Outside of sharing the photos of Weezy, Drake offered no further insight into his thoughts about Kendrick being selected for the prized gig.

On the flip side, Nicki Minaj, Birdman, Juvenile, Master P, Boosie Badazz, Funkmaster Flex, Cam’ron and Mase, and others in the hip-hop community have weighed in on the matter, with many of the aforementioned taking issue with Kendrick being selected to perform over Weezy, who is from New Orleans. As mentioned above, Super Bowl LIX will be taking place in New Orleans. Kendrick, is of course, from Compton, California.

“Rap music is still the most impactful genre to date. And I’ll be there to remind the world why. They got the right one.” Kendrick, who has had a massive 2024, culminating in the release of his hit diss record "Not Like Us" and The Pop Out: Ken & Friends show, said in a statement announcing his selection as the halftime performer for the game.

Wayne has previously expressed his wish to perform at Super Bowl LIX. In a chat on the 4HUNNID podcast that took place earlier this year, Weezy said he was keeping his "fingers crossed" at the prospect of being able to hit the stage at the event.

“I will not lie to you,” Weezy said at the time. “I have not got a call or nothing. But we are praying. We praying. We keeping our fingers crossed. I’m working hard. I’mma make sure this next album and everything I do is killer. I wanna just make it hard for them not to holler at the boy.”
