An 8-year-old girl caused panic in an Ohio town when she went missing.

But it seems she just went on a joyride. NBC News reports that police arrived at the girl’s family’s home on Sunday at around 9 a.m. when they reported her missing. Her parents phoned the police almost two hours earlier when she was last seen.

As the family and police searched for her, a neighbor said he had Ring footage of the girl getting behind the wheel of a 2020 Nissan Rogue and taking off at around 7 a.m. The car was later identified at a Target parking lot in Bainbridge, over 11 miles from the girl’s home. That meant she drove for 25 minutes to get to that Target location.

According to the police report, the girl hit a mailbox when driving to the store. Bedford Police also revealed in a statement posted to Facebook that she was drinking a Frappuccino when officers arrived, likely from a Starbucks inside the Target.

“Well I’ve finally found a woman who’s in more of a hurry to shop at Target than my wife,” the Bedford Police joked. “More of hurry by 8 years. That’s right an 8 year old took mommy’s car this morning and drove to Target in Bainbridge to shop. Thankfully she made it and was immediately located by Bainbridge Police. She’s now home safe. Not sure what she bought, or if she was even able to use her Target app to save 5%. We did let her finish her Frappuccino. We’re not mean.”

Additional reports say she spent $400 at Target, though that reports remain unsubstantiated.

Despite her dangerous escapade, the girls has become a bit of a folk hero online, as you can see by the reactions below.
