Lottie Moss, the younger half-sister of iconic supermodel Kate Moss, has issued a “warning” about what she says are the potential dangers of using Ozempic for weight loss.

In an episode of her Dream On podcast, released Thursday, Moss reflected on her own experience with the always-in-headlines drug, noting that she first started with a lower dosage before ultimately bumping up her intake. This led to her being bedridden for two days and later landing in the hospital, per Moss, with her concerns growing when she was unable to keep food or liquids down.

At the hospital, a nurse inquired about Moss’ dosage, which turned out to be higher than would otherwise be advised. This nurse then sent Moss to the emergency room, where things only got worse.

“I literally had a seizure from how dehydrated I was, which honestly was the scariest thing that’s ever happened to me in my life,” she said. “I’ve never, ever had seizures. I’ve never, ever had any serious health problems in my life. It just scared me so much. My friend had to hold my feet down and it was just so scary, the whole situation. I didn’t know what was going on. My face was clinching up, my whole body was tense.”

By speaking out about her experience, Moss added, she hopes this can encourage others to reconsider their own pursuit of the decidedly trendy medication.

“It’s so not worth it,” she said. “It’s for diabetes. It’s not for weight loss really.”

From there, Moss spoke more generally about the trendiness of the dru, connecting it to wider issues like eating disorders and the outside pressures many face when it comes to body image. Naturally, this also spurred a mention of the so-called “heroin chic” aesthetic from the early 1990s.

“We were doing so well,” she said of body-positivity messaging in recent years. “The curvy girls were eating. … Now it’s just gone back in time to this heroin chic, not eating, being super thin.”
