Patrick Mahomes just donated $5 million to Texas Tech to help renovate its stadium and football center.

AP News reports that the Super Bowl-winning Chiefs quarterback made the donation to his alma mater to go towards a $242 million renovation of the south endzone at Jones AT&T Stadium and the Dustin R. Womble Football Center.

Due to his generation donation, Texas Tech announced that it will name the walkthrough area of the football center, the offensive coordinator’s office, and the quarterback meeting room after Mahomes.

"When we first launched this campaign, Patrick was only a freshman and now it is fitting that we approach the end of the campaign with a gift of his own," said the Texas Tech Red Raiders’ athletic director Kirby Hocutt in a statement.

"We couldn't be prouder to announce this gift from Patrick and Brittany Mahomes,” he continued. “We are so proud of Patrick for all he has accomplished and how he has continually supported Texas Tech on a global scale."

This year, the spirit of giving back seems to be in a lot of NFL quarterbacks. In July, Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson donated dozens of helmets to the Speedway Sparkplugs football program in Speedway, IN. When speaking about the initiative to the public, he referenced the fact that he suffered a concussion last season as the reason for getting these young players better helmets.

“I'm still young. A couple years ago, I was just one of these guys," he said, revealing that he also wears the helmets. "It's safe, you know. I know some people may not say it was safe when I got my concussion, but it was 100% my fault, slowing down by the end zone. It's safe."

Back in April, Jalen Hurts donated $200,000 to provide air conditioner units in different Philadelphia schools — with his donation covering rewiring and changing buildings’ infrastructures to alleviate overheating.
