Former professional wrestler Sika Anoa'i has passed away at the age of 79.
On Tuesday, a member of the legendary Anoa'i family shared a post on Instagram announcing the news of his passing. According to the post, Sika passed away peacefully.
"It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of Former Hall of Famer, Polaivao Leati Sika Anoa’i," the caption wrote. "He passed away peacefully on June 25th. Sika was a celebrated figure whose contributions and legacy have left an indelible mark. His memory will live on through his achievements and the many lives he touched."
"He was many things: a hard working father, a caring brother, a supportive uncle, and a proud grandfather. He was a cherished friend to many, a loving family member whose warmth and kindness knew no bounds, and an inspiration to countless individuals. Sika was known as as one half of the iconic tag team The Wild Samoans with his older brother Afa, who was also his trainer. The brothers were beloved for their wild and ferocious behavior in the ring while working for several different wrestling territories in the '70s and '80s.
In the WWE, Sika and Afa were three-time World Tag Team champions and were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2007.
Sika is also the father of Joseph Anoa'i, also known as Roman Reigns in the WWE. He returned in 2020 to help crown his son the "Tribal Chief" in the long-running Bloodline storyline in the WWE.
In 2023, Reigns dedicated his Night of Champions tag team match alongside his cousin Solo Sikoa to his father and uncle.
