Late Friday, the Los Angeles Lakers made their second big splash signing in free agency, inking Luol Deng to a four-year, $72 million deal. Considering this latest move came just days after the organization shelled out $64 million over four years for Timofey Mozgov, who has averaged just 6.9 points and 5.0 boards per game in his eight-year career, Lakers fans are probably wondering what the hell is going on.

This is the franchise that has won the second-most championships (16) in NBA history. It's also had legends like Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Kobe Bryant suit up in their iconic purple and gold. Plain and simple, these aren't your father's Lakers, and Twitter isn't afraid to remind them every chance they get.

Prior to the free agency period, the Lakers were incredibly optimistic about which big-name players they would be able to land. Remember when Stephen A. Smith said the Lakers would be Kevin Durant's preferred destination? Remember those DeMar DeRozan to the Lakers rumors? Remember when L.A. claimed they would "aggressively pursue" Hassan Whiteside? None of those guys even gave the Lake Show the time of day.

According to a poll put out by ESPN writer Arash Markasi, fans are a little more optimistic. Most weighing in believe L.A.'s offseason has been "eh," but 19 percent have dubbed it the "Worst. Offseason. Ever."

Don't despair just yet, though, Laker fans. Some people who are actually paid to report and write about the NBA like the Deng signing.
