According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, Greg Monroe—who will be an unrestricted free agent in July—signing with the New York Knicks in a couple months is “about as close to a done deal as you can get.”

Even though it is believed that Knicks president Phil Jackson hasn't risked tampering charges by reaching out to Monroe to lure him to the Big Apple, it is likely that Jackson has expressed interest in getting the 24-year-old power forward in an effort to get him to play within the triangle offense. Meanwhile, Monroe's agent David Falk has a long-standing relationship since his days representing Michael Jordan.

However, Monroe shot down these rumors in the Detroit Free Press, saying, "I haven't discussed anything with anybody. My agent hasn't discussed anything with anyone." Monroe is averaging a career-high in points (16.1) and rebounds (10.5) this season and making a strong case why he deserves a max contract this summer.
