It didn't take long for the Philadelphia Eagles to find the guy who would replace Cary Williams as their No. 1 cornerback next season. In place of Williams, who was released to free up $6.5 million in cap space earlier this week, the Eagles will reportedly sign Byron Maxwell to a five-year deal.

For the past four years, Maxwell has been playing with the Seattle Seahawks. After the 'Hawks let Brandon Browner ink a deal with the New England Patriots in 2014, the 27-year-old cornerback got his chance to fully play alongside Richard Sherman, Kam Chancellor and Earl Thomas, better known as "The Legion of Boom," after a strong showing in Browner's absence as he faced suspensions for violating the NFL's performance enhancing drug policy.

Over the past two seasons, the former Clemson product has served as the cornerback that opposing quarterbacks would test when their other, possibly No. 1 option was getting covered by Sherman. In that role, Maxwell was solid for the most part. Now, he will become the main cornerback for Philly. Hopefully, he is up for the challenge.

A couple days ago, Maxwell hinted at the possibility of signing a deal with the Eagles while speaking with PhillyMag.com. "They run the schemes that I'm talking about -- Cover 3 and man press. And they're committed to winning," he said. "Definitely, Philadelphia, if they were to come at me, I would have to consider them."

UPDATE: ESPN's Josina Anderson confirms the report of Maxwell signing with the Eagles.
