Much is being made about this year's NBA Playoffs. We're already in the latter rounds of the postseason and just four teams remain in contention for the Larry O'Brien Trophy and the right to call themselves NBA champions. But as much as we focus on the actual games being played, it's also about money. Big money.

When it comes to accruing cash in the postseason, NBA teams profit off of what is known as a "playoff kitty." This is a league-wide revenue sharing pool, built off of ticket sales. This money is used to award teams for hitting certain postseason benchmarks like best record, progressing through rounds, and of course, winning an NBA title.

Clearly, all of the teams who proceed beyond the regular season are in pursuit of a championship. But as with all tournaments, the playoffs produce more losers than trophy holders. However, with the way the playoff pool is set up, even if you don't make it all the way to an NBA title, you still go home with a W, in the form of cold hard scrilla.

Check out the video above for a breakdown of this year's postseason payouts.
