Instagram is the first platform to offer fans a behind-the-scenes look at the lives and times of the Premier League's most famous faces.

While previously we'd only catch a glimpse of players in post-match interviews and Premier League sticker albums, Instagram gives the likes of Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge and Mario Balotelli an opportunity to tell the world about life inside the beautiful game.

More often than not, the results are a mix of comedy and tragedy.

This is our list of 25 Premier League players to follow on Instagram.

1. Mesut Özil

Club: Arsenal

Introducing the world's most unlikely Drake fan. Mesut Özil also fancies himself as something of a model judging by a few of his poses but we're yet to see him become the official face of YMCMB.

2. Cesc Fabregas

Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas is back in London after a three year stint at Barcelona and it looks like he's enjoying himself.

Wazza's Instagram presence is full of #TBT vibes and intimate family portraits. It's a rare case of a footballer successfully using social media to enhance their likeability. All he's got to do now is improve his performances on the pitch.

​Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen has been Tottenham Hotspur's saviour on more than one occasion over the last couple of years, so it's no surprise his Instagram shows him to be one of the Premier League's happiest personalities.

After one of the biggest will-he-won't-he of recent summers, Raheem Sterling finally moved to Manchester City. It hasn't changed him too much, though, he's still just a kid.

Yannick Bolasie is another Premier League young gun who's into rap, clothes and selfies. Last season was his big break at Crystal Palace and he's quickly becoming one of the Premier League's new cult heroes.

Last season made Harry Kane one of the most exciting English players of his generation, he banged them in for Spurs, and now he's banging them in for England as well. That doesn't stop him from rivalling Phil Jones as the most awkward looking footballer on Instagram.

Manchester United's new golden boy seems to have been having a great time since he moved from Munich, and he's been more than happy to Instagram what's going on behind the scenes at his new club. Schweinsteiger also loves a selfie, so expect some pretty regular shots of his new life in Manchester.

Liverpool's next-big-thing spent the summer Instagramming pretty much everything from Wireless to nights out with his mates, all with the type of captions that are more likely from an OVO affiliate than a footballer. Memphis Depay looks like he's going to do big things with Manchester United, he's one of the most hyped up signings for a while and fans seem to love him already. Another reason to be a fan of Memphis is his fire Instagram feed, it all reached a peak with his pictures of his lads holiday with Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba.

Micah Richard's has returned to the Premier League after his Italian exile and seems to have settled in well, his Instagram is already full of pictures taking the piss out of Charles N'Zogbia.

Chris Smalling's always seemed a bit different to most of his Premier League colleagues, his pictures walking the Machu Picchu trail in Peru or catching piranhas in the Amazon on his summer holiday only reinforced that.
