Instagram is the first platform to offer fans a behind-the-scenes look at the lives and times of the Premier League's most famous faces.

While previously we'd only catch a glimpse of players in post-match interviews and Premier League sticker albums, Instagram gives the likes of Wayne Rooney, Daniel Sturridge and Mario Balotelli an opportunity to tell the world about life inside the beautiful game.

More often than not, the results are a mix of comedy and tragedy.

This is our list of 25 Premier League players to follow on Instagram.

Note: This will be updated at the end of every Premier League transfer window. All picks are correct as of August 20th 2015.

1. Mesut Özil

Instagram: @m10_official

Club: Arsenal

Introducing the world's most unlikely Drake fan. Mesut Özil also fancies himself as something of a model judging by a few of his poses but we're yet to see him become the official face of YMCMB.

2. Cesc Fabregas

Instagram: @cescf4bregas

Club: Chelsea

Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas is back in London after a three year stint at Barcelona and it looks like he's enjoying himself.

3. Ross Barkley

Instagram: @roscobarkley

Club: Everton

According to Instagram, Ross Barkley is a Mike Tyson-loving sneakerhead that watches The Sopranos and holidays in Dubai. We're sold.

4. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Instagram: @alexoxchamberlain

Club: Arsenal

The Ox comes across as one of the Premier League's most modest characters but in reality, he's like most other young athletes. Expect selfies, holidays and…scalextric?

5. Eden Hazard

Instagram: @hazardeden_10

Club: Chelsea

In between posting promo shots for FIFA 15, we occasionally get an inside look at the life of one of world football's hottest talents. He lives for selfies, apparently.

6. Morgan Schneiderlin

Instagram:@schneiderlinmo4

Club: Manchester United

The new lynchpin of Manchester United's midfield is a big fan of social media, a couple of summers ago he took to Twitter to express his disgust with Southampton's transfer policy last summer so keep one eye locked on his Instagram to see what's next.

7. Phil Jones

Instagram: @philjones_4

Club: Manchester United

Phil Jones' Instagram solidifies his reputation as football's most awkward man. Nothing he does looks right. This means that everything he does is hilarious.

8. Theo Walcott

Instagram: @theowalcott

Club: Arsenal

We only ever see Theo Walcott smiling and nodding in font of a camera, so it's refreshing to see him show a little bit of personality on Instagram. Hopefully Samuel L. Jackson knew who Theo was.

9. Vincent Kompany

Instagram: @vincentkompany

Club: Manchester City

Okay, so Vincent Kompany's Instagram is hardly the most exciting in world football but as the captain of reigning Premier League champions, he gets a bye. Plus, he's always been a monster.

10. John Terry

Instagram: @johnterry.26

Club: Chelsea

Just when we thought he couldn't find a way to make the general public dislike him anymore, it turns out John Terry really is friends with One Direction.

11. Sergio Aguero

Instagram: @aguerosergiokun16

Club: Manchester City

Aguero is probably the Premier League's best striker now that Luis Suarez has been exiled to Barcelona, but he's a whole lot more likeable in that role than his predecessor. We dare you to find a photo of Sergio Aguero on Instagram where he isn't smiling.

12. Wayne Rooney

Instagram: @waynerooney

Club: Manchester United

Wazza's Instagram presence is full of #TBT vibes and intimate family portraits. It's a rare case of a footballer successfully using social media to enhance their likeability. All he's got to do now is improve his performances on the pitch.

13. Marcos Rojo

Instagram:@marcosrojo

Club: Manchester United

One year on, Manchester United's Argentinian defender still seems genuinely happy to be playing at Old Trafford. Away from the pitch he seems to eat out. A lot.

14. Daniel Sturridge

Instagram: @dstudge

Club: Liverpool

Daniel Sturridge's popularity has exploded over the last 12 months and as a result, his Instagram remains one of the most active of all Premier League players. Forget Dat Guy Welbz, Sturridge is spearheading a new movement of Premier League players with some sort of cult credibility.

15. Christian Eriksen

Instagram: @chriseriksen8

Club: Tottenham Hotspur

Danish playmaker Christian Eriksen has been Tottenham Hotspur's saviour on more than one occasion over the last couple of years, so it's no surprise his Instagram shows him to be one of the Premier League's happiest personalities.

16. Raheem Sterling

Instagram: @sterling7

Club: Manchester City

After one of the biggest will-he-won't-he of recent summers, Raheem Sterling finally moved to Manchester City. It hasn't changed him too much, though, he's still just a kid.

17. Romelu Lukaku

Instagram: @romelu.lukaku10

Club: Everton

This Belgian powerhouse became Everton's record signing this summer but his Instagram gives us an insight into his passions away from the pitch: DJing and hitting the weights. We'd never have guessed.

18. Yannick Bolasie

Instagram: @yannickbolasie

Club: Crystal Palace

Yannick Bolasie is another Premier League young gun who's into rap, clothes and selfies. Last season was his big break at Crystal Palace and he's quickly becoming one of the Premier League's new cult heroes.

19. Harry Kane

Instagram: @harrykane

Club: Tottenham Hotspur

Last season made Harry Kane one of the most exciting English players of his generation, he banged them in for Spurs, and now he's banging them in for England as well. That doesn't stop him from rivalling Phil Jones as the most awkward looking footballer on Instagram.

20. Bastian Schweinsteiger

Instagram: @bastianschweinsteiger

Club: Manchester United

Manchester United's new golden boy seems to have been having a great time since he moved from Munich, and he's been more than happy to Instagram what's going on behind the scenes at his new club. Schweinsteiger also loves a selfie, so expect some pretty regular shots of his new life in Manchester.

21. Jordon Ibe

Instagram: @Jordon_Ibe

Club: Liverpool

Liverpool's next-big-thing spent the summer Instagramming pretty much everything from Wireless to nights out with his mates, all with the type of captions that are more likely from an OVO affiliate than a footballer. His Instagram pretty much cements his status as Daniel Sturridge's protege.

22. Memphis Depay

Instagram: @memphisdepay

Club: Manchester United

Memphis Depay looks like he's going to do big things with Manchester United, he's one of the most hyped up signings for a while and fans seem to love him already. Another reason to be a fan of Memphis is his fire Instagram feed, it all reached a peak with his pictures of his lads holiday with Romelu Lukaku and Paul Pogba.

23. Micah Richards

Instagram: @micahrichards

Club: Aston Villa

Micah Richard's has returned to the Premier League after his Italian exile and seems to have settled in well, his Instagram is already full of pictures taking the piss out of Charles N'Zogbia.

24. Chris Smalling

Instagram: @Smalling

Club: Manchester United

Chris Smalling's always seemed a bit different to most of his Premier League colleagues, his pictures walking the Machu Picchu trail in Peru or catching piranhas in the Amazon on his summer holiday only reinforced that.

25. Tim Howard

Instagram: @timhow1

Club: Everton

The big bearded 'keeper is, apparently, such a safe pair of hands that people trust him to do their tattoos. Who knew?
