As a legendary sneaker aficionado, it goes without saying that Mayor owns his fair share of highly coveted kicks. During a recent appearance on Sole Collector's Full Size Run, he placed the value of his collection at about $1.8 million and emphatically stated that it's the best in the world.
We had an opportunity to visit the OG’s sneaker room, which served as a reminder that there really are levels to this collecting game. From Derek Jeter Air Jordan 11s to samples from LeBron James' personal collection, here’s a glimpse at the grails he has stashed away.
Air Jordan 11 'Derek Jeter'
There are only 5 pairs of this navy suede-based Jordan commemorating Derek Jeter’s retirement in existence. They go for like $50,000.
Nike SB Dunk x Air Force 1 Low 'Paris'
The original Nike Dunk SB Low ‘Paris’ is already worth about $10,000. These were made for Mayor in the Nike Innovation Kitchen.
Air Jordan 3 'Black Cement' Nubuck Sample
Wrapped in nubuck, this "Black Cement" Air Jordan 3 sample from 2011 has never been released and probably never will. True grail status.
Nike SB Dunk x Air Force 1 High 'Supreme'
Like the 'Paris' Lows, this classic SB Dunk collab from the team over at Supreme was converted into an Air Force 1 for an extremely rare pair you may not see anywhere else.
Undefeated x Air Jordan 4
These are, without question, the best Undefeated sneaker collaboration of all-time. With 72 total pairs in existence and an average resale price of $20,000, the numbers don’t lie.
Nike Air Max LeBron 7 Hyperfuse 'HWC' Sample
Before Hyperfuse technology was featured on the LeBron 8, it was tested on the Lebron 7, but never released. According to Mayor, these samples were LeBron’s personal pair, so one could only guess its resale value.
Nike Dunk TZ LAF x Air Force 1 High 'FLOM'
Another ultra rare Dunk converted into an Air Force 1, this time a reinterpretation of the 2009 release from Futura and Livestrong that generated money for the Lance Armstrong Foundation.
Nike Air Yeezy 2 Set
This is the Air Yeezy holy trinity. The three sneakers in this picture together are worth more than $15,000.
Nike Air Force 1 Low 'Entourage'
Gifted to Mayor by his friend and legendary DJ Clark Kent for his birthday, this Air Force 1 is taken straight from the popular Entourage episode. However, instead of saying "Turtle" on the toe, this 1-of-1 displays "Mayor."
Air Jordan 5 'Motorsports' PE
With only 23 pairs in existence, the Air Jordan 5 ‘Motorsport’ is a grail among grails. Mayor’s pair even appears to be in mint condition, despite the PE being from 2008.
