According to Rolling Stone, All Is By My Side, the Hendrix biopic currently in the works that features André 3000 as Hendrix, will not include any original songs by Jimi Hendrix due to legal issues. As the film has not received permission by Experience Hendrix LLC, the overseer of the Hendrix estate, the film will instead feature André 3000’s reinterpretations of covers performed by Hendrix over the early years of his career.
Producer Sean McKittrick further justifies this move by clarifying that the film focuses on the pre-fame era of Hendrix, and hence, the lack of Hendrix originals will not take away from the film. André will be covering songs by The Beatles and Muddy Waters, amongst others.
