Grimes only just released her fourth studio album back in November last year, but it would seem we’re not going to have to wait too long for the follow-up to Art Angels. In an interview in the latest issue of Rolling Stone, she explained, “I’m actually halfway done with another record. I’m not committing to anything, but I have a bunch of b-sides I kind of want to finish. Plus, I’ve been making a bit of new music.”

She’s also said that it’ll be a bit of a change in direction from Art Angels, which itself was a change in direction from 2012’s Visions. “With Art Angels, it was all like [growls]. This would be more chill vibes, downtempos, synth-y shit. That makes it sound boring. It’s not boring.”

When asked about whether the album would be a b-sides collection or a regular album, she elaborated, “You know how Lana Del Rey put out Paradise Edition after Born To Die? It would be like that. There are songs I seriously considered for Art Angels, but they fucked with the momentum when I tried to put them on the record.” Whether or not the b-sides or new material is going to come out this year or not remains to be seen, but it’s nice to know that there’s more Grimes awaiting us in the future.
