Azealia Banks Will Star in RZA-directed Film 'Coco'

It seems like whenever Azealia Banks is in a headline, unfortunately the topic of discussion is focused more on what she’s saying rather than what she’s doing with her talent. However, it looks like things are finally about to make a major turn around. According to Deadline, Banks will star in an upcoming Lionsgate/Codeblack film titled Coco, which will be directed by none other than Wu-Tang Clan’s own RZA.

Azealia Banks is expected to play the title character of the film. She will reportedly be starring alongside fellow musicians Common and Jill ScottCoco will be a drama set in Brooklyn about a young aspiring rapper who eventually puts her music plans on hold to give into her parents wishes of finishing college. But the character soon finds a way to achieve her goals of becoming a rapper after having some experience with spoken word at school.

The character and film parallel with Banks’ real life, since she too dropped out of school to pursue her own career in music. It will be interesting to see how Azealia Banks is able to bring the character to life on the big screen.
