Saturday Night Livepaid tribute to Prince with a special episode of the show last night, and now the entire program is available to watch online.
The special, titled Goodnight Sweet Prince, began with former SNL cast member Jimmy Fallon giving a short speech to introduce the episode. “Other people may have been on the show more times or performed more frequently, but there was always something different about a Prince performance,” he said. “It was special, it was an event… it was Prince. Times have changed, styles have come and gone, but no matter what, Prince has never not been cool.”
Goodnight Sweet Prince also included all four of his musical performances from the show, as well as sketches in which Prince was impersonated by Fred Armisen, and footage from the legendary SNL 40th Anniversary after party that has been the stuff of legend since Fallon first talked about it on his show over a year ago.
