September 17th has officially been declared to be Rich Homie Quan Day in Atlanta.

The late rapper was laid to rest today (Sept. 17) with a home going ceremony at World Changers Church International in College Park. At the ceremony, the Atlanta City Council proclaimed that Sept. 17 will forever be known as Rich Homie Quan Day.

At the ceremony, Killer Mike spoke about the rapper and what emotions he was potentially dealing with at the time of his passing. "Our writing comes from the experiences around us so believe me, that smile that he had carried the weight that you have," Mike said.

"The smile that he walked around with sometimes masked a shattering, hurt thing, and he still gave audiences joy and love and laughter,” he continued. “So I wanna say to us, forgive yourself for your own addictions."

Comedian DC Young Fly also spoke fondly about the rapper during the ceremony. He addressed Quan’s parents and promised to carry the rapper’s legacy. "Y'all gave us an icon, y'all gave us a legend," the comedian said. "We're all on borrowed time. So the things that he accomplished while he was here we wanna let you know that we're gonna continue on his legacy, and even through the small amount of time he made a big impact."

Quan tragically passed away on Sept. 5 at 34 years old. A cause of death is still under investigation.

In the time since his passing, much of the hip-hop industry has paid their respects to the rapper — from Jacquees to Lil Kim. His former record label Think It’s A Game Records, who he sued in 2016 due to unpaid royalties, even posted a heartfelt message to him detailing how powerful his passion was.

"To know Quan was to truly love him," the company wrote on Instagram. "If you had to chance to meet him, his warmth and infectious energy would instantly draw you in. He had a unique way of making everyone feel special and valued, very rich in spirit."

"The impact you made is immeasurable, and so many of us are feeling the void left by your absence,” the statement continues. “Even in our grief, your music continues to offer solace and healing. Your sound, your message, and your passion will resonate forever. We cherish every moment and every project we shared with you."
