Meek Mill Wonders Why CEOs Are Stepping Down All of a Sudden
In 2023, many CEOs of major companies stepped down—a trend that continues to rise this year—and Meek Mill wants to know why.
Meek Mill hopped into his conspiracy bag recently when he questioned why so many leaders of top companies are choosing to vacate their positions voluntarily.
The Philly rapper posted “Why all these ceos stepping down?” on X after noticing what many believe to be an alarming trend.
Forbes reported last month that 2024 has been a big year for CEO turnover. In just the first quarter, The outplacement and career transitioning firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas reported that 622 chief executives announced that they were resigning.
The most recent high profile CEO leaving their position is Nike’s John Donahoe. The company revealed yesterday that Donahoe, who had a rocky tenure at the agency since starting in January of 2020, will retire from the role on Oct. 13 when company veteran Elliot Hill will come out of retirement and take his place.
A couple of days ago, 300 Entertainment’s CEO Kevin Liles stepped down from the label that he co-founded a decade ago. In a memo sent to staff, Liles revealed his plan. “At the end of this month, I’ll be stepping aside and departing WMG, although to ensure a successful transition, I’ll continue to consult with the team through the end of the year," he wrote.
One of the last major CEOs to step down recently was Sony Music Nashville’s Chairman and CEO, Randy Goodman. After 35 years in the music industry and nearly a decade in his role, Goodman revealed that he’d be leaving but was “excited” for what’s next.
During a recent #askmeek session on X, Meek called Elon Musk a “reptilian” because of how smart he is. “I think he like a reptilian he’s too smart…I be checking if he’s racist or not, I be seeing things he post they be a lil crazy,” wrote Meek. “I like him so far he be doing what he wants! He bought X and start trolling it and using the influence “genius” #cybertruck I hope he not,” the rapper wrote.
Additionally, the rapper revealed some details about his Meek Mill Bill that was signed into Pennsylvania law late last year. “I received a real law in my name today that’s active and freeing people currently and reforming the way my people get trapped in the system …. What you do? so I know?,” wrote the rapper. “This affects most black and brown people in America, ima ghetto baby not even suppose to be here!”
