Lecrae Drops His Own 'White Air Force 1s' Version of Kendrick Lamar's Untitled Track
Following a shoutout from K. Dot on the original track.
After being referenced on Kendrick Lamar’s “Watch the Party Die” track, Lecrae has created his own version.
Last night (Sept. 14), Lecrae posted a clip on Instagram of him rapping to the beat of Lamar’s explosive new song. He also changed the original cover featuring a pair of beat-up black Air Force 1s to a pair of white ones. “Welp…this is what Lecrae would do,” he wrote in the caption.
In Lamar’s “Watch the Party Die,” he gave Lecrae a shoutout as he rapped about getting rid of all of the fakes and starting over in hip-hop and media. “Sometimes I wonder what Lecrae would do / Fuck these n***as up or show ’em just what prayer do?,” he rapped. Lecrae responded to the mention by heading to X and expressing his gratitude. “Love you Dot….Always here,” he posted.
Lecrae hasn’t been the only person to make their own version of Lamar’s track. Ransom recently released his own verse on “Watch The Party Die,” similarly calling out the groups of people that need to be put in check.
Lamar also shoutout out Dee-1 on the track, who’s known for his reflective style of rap music that showcases his vast range of emotions. Towards the end of “Watch the Party Die,” Lamar raps, “I want to be empathetic, my heart like Dee-1.”
Responding to the shoutout on X, Dee-1 posted a throwback photo of himself with Lamar, suggesting that change was coming to the industry.
“I appreciate the shoutout brother. @kendricklamar [heart emoji] More than you’ll ever know. A shift is happening. The time is now! [praying hands emoji],” posted Dee-1.
“Watch the Party Die” will presumably be on the setlist when Lamar performs at the Super Bowl on Feb. 9, 2025. In the teaser announcement that he revealed last week, the rapper said, “Only one opportunity to win a championship. No round twos.” — seemingly a reference to Drake who previously hinted that he’s ready to go another round in their rap beef.
