Chingy has backed out of performing at a Republican event after people online critizied his inclusion in the lineup.

“YOU KNO WHAT JUS CAUSE I DONT WANT TO BE IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS MESS. I HAVE DECLINED PERFORMING AND NO IM MOT A TRUMP SUPPORTER NOR SUPPORTER OF ANYONE ELSE BUT CHINGY. THURR YOU HAVE IT,” wrote the rapper in the comments section of a Baller Alert Instagram post.

Chingy became the talk of the internet after being revealed to be a performer at Red White & Rock in Nashville, Tennessee — an event to support LGBT conservatives set for September 29. The internet ripped him a new one, joking on everything from him being the most popular performer on the bill to why he’d even agree to go in the first place.

Chingy’s initial response to the backlash was to dismiss anyone speaking out against him. “I’ma say this one time. MY JOB IS TO PERFORM AND I GET PAID TO PERFORM, NOT CAURR ABOUT POLITICS. NOW YALL FIND SUMIN ELSE TO DO WITH YURR TIME,” wrote Chingy in the comments section of a Baller Alert post on Instagram.

After someone suggested he’s performing because he needed the money, That Grape Juice reports that Chingy responded to their comment (but it appears to have been deleted) and explained that he's performing because the people are fans of his music. “You can’t be down bad when you just bought a 500k house pimp,” he allegedly wrote. “Those people don’t hate me because they love my music. Music isn’t racist and that’s how I play it.”

Chingy reportedly added, “All this nonsense y’all creating bothers me none. I’m a performer, whether these people are political, homosexual, or whatever—they all love music... I have classic records they all love, and I will perform them for them. So I hope that helps you understand that my job as an artist is to perform and make timeless music. That I did.”

Tickets for the event range from $1,000 for general admission all the way up to $50,000.

Chingy also questioned why websites that reported on the event and the backlash to his inclusion didn’t acknowledge that the city of St. Louis recently declared Sept. 14th as Chingy Day.

“HEY YALL THE MAYOR JUST MADE SEPT 14TH CHINGY DAY IN ST LOUIS! WHY IS THAT NOT ON YALL BLOGS PAGES?” he wrote.

Last month, Drake shared his appreciation for Chingy’s “One Call Away” by posting his favorite lyrics from the song about playing basketball with your friends. In the song, Chingry raps that after a woman that he’s interested in comes to watch him play, “Now I’m showin out, tryna dunk, tryna dribble/Break fast through the middle just to see her smile and giggle.”

Drake wrote why he loved the lyrics underneath the screenshot. “Nah chingy I felt this like why do I play ball better when the tings aren’t watching you really struck a chord with this one goated lyric,” he admitted.
