According to Usher, the moment is one he will "remember forever."

Usher is emphasizing the power of spontaneity when it comes to commemorating a relationship.

As you’ll recall, the Confessions artist, whose latest album Coming Home arrived back in February, followed up one hell of a Nevada run with his marriage to Jennifer Goicoechea, the SVP of A&R at Epic. The couple share two children together. In a recent interview with Chuck Arnold for the New York Post, Usher looked back on the distinctly Vegas experience, saying he was “very happy” with the Elvis Presley impersonator-assisted ceremony.

“What was already an amazing moment was peaked by a moment that I will remember forever,” Usher said toward the end of the 25-minute video below. “I was very happy to not only conclude my time in Las Vegas with the residency and then the Super Bowl but to start on a new journey with my amazing wife. I was very happy to do it there. It’s probably one of the easiest ceremonies that I’ve experienced in my life.”

Usher continued, “It was cool. It was something out of history. You hear about these kinds of things but to have been able to do it was really a joyous moment between me and my wife and my children and my intimate and immediate family who was there. It was an abrupt thing. We decided at the last minute to do it.”

The Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show saw Usher pulling from multiple periods of his back catalog, starting with a taste of his 1997 My Way title track. Special guests included Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R., will.i.am, Lil Jon, and Ludacris.

The next iteration of the halftime show, as has been inescapable in recent days, has proven to be a divisive choice for many. Kendrick Lamar, fresh off a blockbuster year defined largely by a charts-dominating beef with Drake, was announced as the New Orleans headliner earlier this month. Lil Wayne had been publicly vocal about his desire to land the honor due to NOLA being his hometown, with the Kendrick announcement spurring both criticism and support from fans and artists alike.

Weezy later responded to the move, saying “it hurt a whole lot.” Usher, meanwhile, has declined to get too involved with such talk.
