When the world was alerted to a certain Instagram Live seemingly featuring the sounds of sexual acts involving Shannon Sharpe on Wednesday, it was only a matter of time before everyone arrived at this point right here, i.e. a news hit on Cam’ron and Mase’s reactions.

In the opening moments of the latest It Is What It Is, fans were given exactly that, with co-host Treasure "Stat Baby" Wilson first noting this has been a “real interesting week” in more ways than one. Cam took it from there, arguing that all of this was not accidental.

“That n***a cappin’,” he said on Thursday morning’s episode. “That shit was on purpose. You can’t go live without pushing, like, four or five buttons. That n***a cappin’, bro. You gotta push, like, four buttons to go live.”

Fueling this theory, per Cam, is that Sharpe “ain’t go viral in a little minute.” Cam also took issue with the audio quality of the IG Live in question, joking that it sounded like he “had a mic” on, as well as pointed to Sharpe’s later mention of a call from Katt Williams and the fact that he tucked some “bragging” into his apology.

“I think this whole thing was staged,” he said, later calling it a “Ponzi scam.”

As for Mase, he said he “didn’t hear it,” asking his co-hosts to fill him in on what transpired amid MTV Video Music Awards discourse on Wednesday. Eventually, Cam played him a recording, prompting additional commentary from Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Dallas Cowboy Michael Irvin. In Irvin’s opinion, the absence of any “slapping and clapping” was worth pointing out.

“It’s not Irvin enough,” Mase joked in response, while Stat Baby closed out the segment with a shoutout “to whoever Michelle is.”

As previously reported, Sharpe initially claimed his IG had been hacked, though he later walked back that explanation.

“Obviously, I’m embarrassed,” the Club Shay Shay host said in an “emergency” episode of Nightcap, adding that he was “very disappointed in myself.” Sharpe clarified that he was not embarrassed or disappointed due to the act itself but instead the public nature of what took place.

“This was not staged,” he said.
