Tory Lanez has responded to the allegations that his prison cell was raided and his recording equipment was seized while hinting his life may be in danger after addressing the situation.

On Tuesday, the singer shared a post on his Instagram page where he addressed the report TMZ published regarding his cell being raided. According to Lanez, the alleged incident has forced him to stop his weekly release, The Prison Tapes, and several atrocities are occurring inside the prison that people should be aware of.

Lanez said the raid on his cell happened because he was using the money made off The Prison Tapes to help reopen legal cases for almost 500 inmates. He also claimed Black and other minority inmates are being treated unfairly by prison officers and that God gave him a sign about realizing his purpose and starting the whole Prison Tapes initiative.

"I was placed in jail to suffer, to feel, and to witness firsthand the pain and oppression being inflicted upon the young black and brown men and women of my generation. I knew I had to change this injustice," Lanez said in part of his statement. "So, I made a plan that when I got to prison, I would figure out a way to record music and put all the proceeds towards the legal representation of my fellow inmates, giving them a once in a lifetime chance to go home to their families on appeal and resentencing."

He added that the "HIGHER UPS" played a role in stopping The Prison Tapes and he's received help from a legal firm called 'UNITE THE PEOPLE" to help reopen those cases in the initiative he calls "The Hands of God Project."

The Toronto native also warned fans that his philanthropic work may end his life and if anything were to happen to him, he went out in "the blaze of glory trying to revolutionize the end of a mass incarceration era on our people."

According to a report by TMZ, officials at the California Correctional Institution where Lanez is being held said there was no raid on his cell despite the chief deputy of the singer's legal team, Ceasar McDowell, stating otherwise.

Tory Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. In December 2022, he was found guilty on three charges: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, carrying a concealed and loaded firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.
