Eminem wasn’t quite ready to close his Slim Shady chapter.

On Friday, September 13, the Detroit-born rapper came through with the Expanded Mourner’s Edition of The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce) — his chart-topping 12th studio album that arrived in July. Eminem announced the release on social media this week, posting a cinematic video featuring him and mega-producer Alchemist.

The teaser follows Eminem as he enters a convenience store, where Alchemist sits behind the counter reading a news report about Slim Shady’s death. Eminem then grabs a carton of milk from the refrigerator, casually drops it on the ground, and walks out. A close-up of the carton shows Slim Shady’s picture under a “missing” label and a phone number to call for any information on his whereabouts.

The number directs callers to a voicemail message by Steve Berman, a music heavy-hitter who has appeared in numerous Eminem skits.

“Hi, it’s Steve Berman from the office. Apparently, Slim Shady has gone missing,” the message begins. “Do I really care? If you happen to find him, do me a favor: Tell him to stay lost. What am I doing this for? your call won’t be returned because I really don’t care if you find him or not. Now leave me alone.”

The Expanded Mourner’s Edition includes three new tracks, "Fuel - Shady Edition" featuring Westside Boogie and Grip, "Like My Shit," and "Kyrie & Luka" featuring 2 Chainz.

You can stream the album now on Apple Music and Spotify.

The release came just days after Eminem opened the 2024 Video Music Awards hosted by Megan Thee Stallion. Em kicked things off by recreating his famous 2000 VMAs performance, in which he entered the venue with dozens of Slim Shady lookalikes. He treated the audience to a performance of “Houdini” followed by “Somebody Save Me.”
