Back in January, North London’s Jaay Wood announced his return after a quiet 2023 with “It Gets Dangerous”, and today he strikes again with another new mood-booster, “One Love”.
Producer Tantra fits the track with a swaggering, full-bodied instrumental that sets a light, melodic snippet against a singular thumping drum. Energising yet soulful, it strikes the balance just right.
There’s also a soulfulness in Wood’s voice on what is a strong contender for the summer anthem. Heaping affirmations and blessings on his people, it’s a surefire crowd-pleaser the next time the sun graces us with its presence.
“‘One Love’ is really showing love to me and mine unapologetically,” says Jaay Wood. “Without them, I ain’t me and I’m gonna forever have them like they have me; nothing but vibes, good times, and elevation. My upcoming project, Nighttide, is about keeping it wavey and keeping focused through the highs and the lows, and you’re gonna feel that through the bars, production and flows. We all go through hard times but, through it, we stay vibing because quitting and giving up ain’t an option.”
