The legal matters around Tyrese Gibson have gotten so insurmountable that the actor-singer took to Instagram Live to clear the air.

On Wednesday night (Sept. 11), mere days after the 45-year-old was taken to court over unpaid child support payments, Gibson shared that he wasn't arrested, despite some reports claiming otherwise.

“I was never put in handcuffs. I was never arrested. I was put in a room–I was held in a room,” he said in the clip below.

Adding that his lawyer was “quick on her feet,” Gibson said the judge made a contempt of court ruling, which was “instantly appealed” by his lawyer. The Beautiful Pain artist claimed that he was then released from holding.

"I want you guys to pray for me," he continued. "I want you guys to pray for my family. I want you guys to pray for this journey that seems to be pretty unbearable, at times, when it feels like I’m alone."

Gibson then addressed the reports circulating about his post-divorce and child support woes. "I got people that love me that call and say, ‘I’m disappointed.’ I got co-stars that are looking at the headlines change from 1992 rave reviews into the headlines turning into Tyrese arrested, which again, I was never arrested."

Reiterating what happened in court, which occurred “five or six hours” before he was supposed to be “hauled off to jail,” Gibson stressed that the ruling was appealed.

“Because she was that quick on her feet, I was in there for two hours, then I went home,” Gibson concluded, referring to his lawyer.

Since their divorce was finalized in 2020, Tyrese has been in a legal and financial struggle with his ex-wife, Samantha Lee, with whom he shares a five-year-old daughter, Soraya.

Since Gibson's court appearance last week, it been mandated that Tyrese pay Lee $73,000 in unpaid child support, including $7,500 for lawyer fees.
