On Tuesday (September 3), the juggernaut collaboration topped Billboard's list, one year after Wallen's 2023 single "Last Night" earned the same title. Prior to that, a country song hadn't taken the top spot since 1974, when John Denver's "Annie's Song" was crowned the Song of The Summer.
Rounding out the top three was Shaboozey's "A Bar Song (Tipsy)" at No. 2 and Kendrick Lamar's "Not Like Us," with both songs having topped the Billboard Hot 100 for multiple weeks this year. Sabrina Carpenter made the list twice, with "Espresso" at No. 4 and "Please Please Please" at No. 6; Tommy Richman's "Million Dollar Baby" at No. 5; Hozier's "Too Sweet" at No. 7; Teddy Swims' "Lose Control" at No. 8; Billie Eilish's "Birds of a Feather" at No. 9. and Benson Boone's "Beautiful Things" at No. 10.
Although Post Malone has been accused of being a "culture vulture" throughout his career–a label he's taken offense to–the 29-year-old has leaned into country music, even appearing on Beyoncé's Cowboy Carter. Last month, he released his sixth studio album, F-1 Trillion, making Posty's third Billboard chart-topper with 250,000 equivalent album units earned.
