The trial of Young Dolph's murder kicked off this week, and prosecutors allege that Yo Gotti's late brother, Anthony 'Big Jook' Mims, was responsible for ordering a $100,000 hit on the Memphis rapper.

As reported by FOX13, the three men charged in the 2021 murder of Dolph —Hernandez Govan, Justin Johnson, and Cornelius Smith — have been accused by prosecutors of carrying out a hit ordered by the brother of the rapper's longtime rival, Yo Gotti. The three suspects are charged with first-degree murder, with Johnson and Smith believed to be the shooters and Govan suspected as the mastermind of the operation.

Only Johnson stood trial on Monday, Sept. 23 when Shelby County Assistant District Attorney Paul Hagerman dropped the bombshell allegation. "Big Jook, the person I told you about before, the number two guy at CMG, he's put out a hit, a hit, $100,000 to whoever kills Dolph," said Hagerman in his opening statements, referring to Yo Gotti's brother who was shot and killed in January this year.

Hagerman alleged that Jook met with Johnson and Smith, the former of which he claimed wanted to use his portion of the promised $100,000 to help with his rap career. He also said that Johnson drove the Mercedes to the Memphis location where Dolph was killed. He presented a photo that showed him an hour before the shooting, in which he wore an outfit similar to the gunmen seen at the Makeda's Homemade Butter Cookies location.

Johnson has pleaded not guilty in the case, but his half-brother, Jermarcus Johnson, pled guilty last year to three counts of accessory after the fact. Cornelius Smith testified during the court proceedings on Monday and identified Justin Johnson as one of the two gunmen featured in security footage showing the moment Dolph was fatally shot.
