Diddy has been placed on suicide watch while he's being held at Brooklyn's Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) on sex trafficking and racketeering charges.

As reported by TMZ, the Bad Boy Records founder was placed on suicide watch at the facility, as his attorney Marc Agnifilo confirmed. However, he has reassured that it's a routine measure for high-profile inmates at MDC, and his client has not expressed suicidal tendencies. Agnifilo said that Diddy was "strong, healthy, confident and focused on his defense" when he spent six hours with him at the facility on Thursday, Sept. 19.

Complex has reached out to representatives of Diddy for further comment.

Diddy was arrested on the charges on Monday, Sept. 16. In the unsealed indictment, he was accused of running "a criminal enterprise" and having "abused, threatened, and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires, protect his reputation, and conceal his conduct." He pleaded not guilty and lost his bail appeal on Wednesday, Sept. 18.

One of the key concerns shown by federal prosecutors is his alleged attempts to contact several potential witnesses in the case, including accusers. His legal team has requested that he be transferred to the Essex County Correctional Facility in Newark, New Jersey, citing the living conditions at MDC.

The former warden of MDC, Cameron Lindsay, has suggested that Diddy's life might be in danger behind bars. Lindsay told TMZ that the mogul is being held at the facility's Special Housing Unit, separate from the general population. He believes that Diddy's celebrity status could make him a target for other prisoners, who would see harming him as a "badge of honor."

If convicted, Diddy faces up to life prison.

In a statement released following Diddy's arrest, the mogul's lawyer Marc Agnifilo asked for people to "reserve your judgment until you have all the facts."

Elsewhere in the statement, Agnifilo wrote, "We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office. Sean 'Diddy' Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person, but he Is not a criminal."
