Boosie Badazz has expressed his frustration with the announcement that Kendrick Lamar will perform at the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show.

"All y'all acting like y'all cool with how they playing it for the Super Bowl SMH the most cultural city [in] the USA (New Orleans) it's a smack in the face to every hip hop legend from Louisiana!" wrote Boosie in an all-caps tweet, lamenting the decision to not focus on Louisiana talent during the show.

He suggested that someone like Master P or Birdman, both New Orleans natives, should be involved with the show instead of K Dot. "This shows they never wanted y'all to kick [in] the door [in] the first place 'cause they still tryna lock it!!" he continued. "Super Bowl 22' was Cali [and] Cali artist was allowed to do they thang [and] it was a great show!! But now it's [in] Louisiana [and] no Louisiana legends can't do they thang #idontrespectit."

Following that announcement that K Dot would headline the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans on February 9, 2025, the news was met with some criticism from the hip-hop community. Many suggested Lil Wayne should perform during the Halftime Show, with the rapper's longtime engineer Fabian Marasciullo expressing his disappointment with the announcement on his Instagram Stories.

Master P, meanwhile, congratulated Lamar for landing the show but said that he would love to see Lil Wayne joined him onstage. "As Ambassador of Entertainment in the City of New Orleans, I have to agree with the fans that @liltunechi #LilWayne should be a part of this celebration as well," Master P said. "He’s one of the greatest Hip Hop artists alive, still relevant, and he’s a New Orleans native. Let’s not miss this cultural moment in the South. Life is too short! We have to give our legends their flowers while they are here."

Cam'ron and Mase also shared their belief that Weezy ought to be there. "Listen, I love Kendrick Lamar,” Cam said. “I love The Pop Out. I think he’s one of the top artists of this generation. Period. Hate the selection. It’s in New Orleans. You don’t get Lil Wayne? That’s what we doing?”

While the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show celebrated California's vibrant hip-hop scene with Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg among the performers, as well as Kendrick, it also featured several artists who aren't from the state such as Eminem, 50 Cent, and Mary J. Blige. So it's not exactly a prerequisite to celebrate the city the Super Bowl takes place in, but it would be nice to see Lil Wayne join K Dot onstage.
