As news about Bill and Melinda Gates’ split continues to bubble up, it’s been revealed that Bill reportedly told his golfing friends about marital issues.

A source told theNew York Post this week this week that Bill’s friends on the green were some of the first to hear about his concerns, adding that the marriage was described as “loveless” well before the divorce became official.

“Bill did talk to his close friends on the golf course,” a source said. “He told them a while back that the marriage was loveless, that it had been over for some time and they were living separate lives.”

Of course, this information comes just weeks after the pair announced their split on social media, claiming that they “no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in this next phase of our lives.” Following the news came concerns of what would happen to their childrens’ inheritances, as well as reports that Melinda was upset about Bill’s meetings with Jeffrey Epstein, which he called a “mistake in judgment,” and added that he “thought that those discussions would lead, literally, to billions of dollars going to global health. It turned out that was a bad judgment.”

A source also tells the Post that Melinda “wants to get an annulment from the Vatican following the civil divorce,” as another shared that “any friendship with Epstein would have been a bone of contention for Melinda.”
