Serena Williams took to Twitter on Saturday to share that because she was training so hard for Wimbledon, she missed her daughter Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.’s first steps.

“She took her first steps... I was training and missed it. I cried,” Williams wrote.

But rather than shame her, parents and fans rallied around Williams, sharing their own rules of motherhood, missed moments, and more with the tennis superstar.

One user responded, “She missed you winning 23 grand slam titles but will still know you’re the best tennis player of all time,” adding, “You’ll have thousands of magic moments with her don’t worry!”

While another wrote, “My motherhood rule: the first you see is the first time it happened FULL STOP! 😁”

Williams was fairly open about her pregnancy and about how difficult giving birth was for her. Through it all, her fans have been extremely supportive, and she thanked them in an open letter on Facebook back in January.
