Senior citizens in Round Rock, Texas were treated to a bingo session virtually hosted by Matthew McConaughey over the weekend.

Residents at the Enclave at Round Rock Senior Living center were joined for several rounds, per a CBS affiliate in Austin, which was the result of a public request back in September for the True Detective alum to join the festivities. Due to COVID-19 containment efforts, which have greatly impacted senior living facilities in recent months, McConaughey was forced to honor the request by way of livestreaming into the game. He was joined by his mother Kay and his partner Camila.

In a statement thanking McConaughey and family for the generous gesture at a time when generous gestures indeed go quite a distance, Enclave at Round Rock sales director Molly Davis Nedley detailed just how momentous the occasion was for residents.

"Our team members can’t interact with the residents the way we normally do, so we have been doing everything possible to uplift them virtually," Nedley said. "This was a wish come true! The residents absolutely loved seeing Matthew and his family and enjoyed hearing him talk about what he's doing to get through this crisis. It gave them hope and was the boost that they needed to get through this lonely, challenging time."

McConaughey, thankfully, has remained a very public advocate for virus containment efforts, particularly with regards to his home state of Texas. In a recent video message to University of Texas at Austin students, for example, he urged young people to rise to the challenge to protect both themselves and those in their lives who may be more susceptible to the virus.

"The virus has come on and you've been asked to grow up sooner than you thought you were gonna have to," he said earlier this month. "You've had responsibilities laid on your lap that you didn't bargain for. You just went off to Spring Break, you got back with a tan, you feel great. What's wrong with that? Not blaming any of that, but no matter how good you feel right now, stay home if you can. I'm sorry you've got these responsibilities on you at this time. It's an unprecedented time in all our lives. But face the facts that they're here. This is a science fiction film no more. It's reality, man. Deal with it. Please. We need you to and you need us to."

"Be a lot safer if you did!" 🤘@McConaughey offers some tough love to UT students who decided to go on spring break in Mexico instead of self-quarantine.
