The past few weeks have been quite big for the Spider-Man extended universe and its devoted legion of fans. Less than a week after Post Malone and Swae Lee's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse soundtrack cut "Sunflower" got an alternate video, Marvel dropped off the first teaser trailer for the upcoming main franchise entry Spider-Man: Far From Home. Naturally, the tweeted reactions immediately started piling up.

Far From Home, judging by the first teaser trailer, will indeed continue the tradition of sprinkling in fan-approved references to Spidey's past. Unless a certain Mysterio is just fucking with everyone, the teaser trailer also alludes to appearances from Molten Man and two other elements-based villains.

"That was the best thing I could have done, because it revealed to me what was so exceptional about Spider-Man in the first place," director Jon Watts, who also helmed Homecoming, told the Los Angeles Times back in 2017 about his approach to bringing the classic Marvel character back to the screen. "What people forget is that Stan Lee and Steve Ditko created him and introduced him into a huge world of superheroes that they had already been building. The idea was, let's get a regular kid's take on all of this — let's have a new perspective." For Watts, finding this new angle was sparked by diving into a 1962 issue of Amazing Fantasy.

Anyway, enough of that. Below, enjoy or at least tolerate a selection of tweeted reactions to fans' first proper look at the Homecoming sequel. The movie itself is due July 5.
