Over the weekend, friends, family, and fans of SNLcomedian Pete Davidson became concerned following an alarming message posted to his Instagram. Davidson is okay, though unfortunately he’s still burdened with the task of living out his mental health journey in public.

Part of that burden means having personal incidents, like your ex trying to reach out to you, get plasted on tabloids and social media. According to TMZ, Davidson asked security at NBC’s 30 Rock, where SNL is filmed, to prevent Ariana Grande from trying to see him on Saturday.

On Saturday he shared an Instagram post writing, "i really don't want to be on this earth anymore. i'm doing my best to stay here for you but i actually don't know how much longer i can last."

The message followed another post praising Kanye, who Grande had joked about on Thursday night.

"Bravo Kanye West for standing up for yourself and speaking out against [sic] mental health," Davidson wrote. "I can't explain to you enough how difficult and scary it is to be honest about stuff like this. We need people like Kanye. No one should ever point fingers at you for your bravery in speaking about mental health. I'm seriously disgusted."

Davidson then deleted his Instagram. Grande later apologized for the joke on Twitter, and also sent out a message to her ex that she was at 30 Rock. "I’m downstairs and I’m not going anywhere if you need anyone or anything," she wrote. "I know u have everyone u need and that’s not me, but i’m here too."

It’s also understandable why Davidson didn’t want to see her. He’s been the target of online abuse from Grande’s fans since they were dating. He deleted his Instagram account over the summer following harassment from Arianators, and was hit with it again when he reactivated following their breakup.

Despite Scooter Braun and Grande’s own attempts to stop the hate, Davidson has commented repeatedly on the negative impact social media has had on his well being. Grande’s presence could have been triggering for the comedian. He previously blocked the singer on social media.

Though he was at NBC, he reportedly had a hard time leaving the dressing room. Davidson’s only job on Saturday night was introducing musical guest Miley Cyrus.
