After teasing the costume, Warner Bros. finally showed off the trailer for Shazam!, which stars Zachary Levi as the titular character. Shazam! looks to sprinkle in a much-needed dose of comedy to the ongoing DC Comics extended universe. Inspired by the more recent, revamped version of Shazam's origin story from DC's New 52 comics line, Shazam! is currently scheduled to arrive not long after Aquaman.

Set to hit theaters on Apr. 5, 2019, Shazam! follows the story of 14-year-old foster kid Billy Batson, who can turn into an adult superhero after he bumps into an ancient wizard. The trailer indicates that a good chunk of the movie will delve into Batson's attempts to discover what powers he's obtained. The film is directed by Lights Out and Annabelle: Creation director David F. Sandberg, who previously gained attention online for his inventive viral short films.

Shazam! is the first of the DC Comics extended universe films to arrive next year, with Wonder Woman 1984 expected to hit theaters on Nov. 1, 2019. Until then, DC Entertainment will be focusing on the impending release of Aquaman, which also received its first trailer on Saturday at San Diego Comic-ConAquaman will land in theaters on Dec. 21.
