Wendy Williams Feels 'Very, Very Bad' for Kanye West

Wendy Williams is concerned about Kanye West's mental wellbeing.

Wendy Williams said during an "Ask Wendy Williams" event at New York City's Vulture Festival that she's concerned for Kanye West's mental well-being. The talk show host was playing some rounds of "How She Doin" with Las Culturistas hosts Matt Rogers and Bowen Yang when the duo brought up Kanye. Williams said the rapper in "in the throes."

"I think that mental illness is something that is so real. A lot of people in jail right now, if they could've just gotten through some mental illness counseling, [wouldn’t be incarcerated]," Williams explained. "As long as I'm here and you're listening, I will tell you I feel very, very bad for Kanye West. His father is nowhere in the picture, his mom passed away trying to beautify herself to be a stage mom. I’m not going to talk about his wife, his family, or anything like that. But what I will tell you is that he’s not well. That is the very foundation of everything he says. He’s not well. I wish him well."

Williams also spoke about Kanye's opioid addiction. During the infamous interview with TMZ in April, Kanye said that during his 2016 hospitalization at the UCLA Medical Center, he was battling addiction. Williams said, "The thing with therapy and the overusing of opioids: People think 'Oh, cocaine, heroin, weed, and stuff.' No—people popping those pills, that's affecting millions of Americans."

Kanye said he was given opioids when he got liposuction, a procedure he received because he "didn’t want y’all to call me fat, like y’all called Rob [Kardashian] at the wedding."
