DC Claps Back at Ryan Reynolds’ Shade by Reminding Him of ‘Green Lantern’

DC reminds Ryan Reynolds about his 'dark' past as Green Lantern.

The final Deadpool 2 trailer included a jab at the DC Extended Universe movies.

"You're no fucking hero. You're just a clown, dressed up as a sex toy," his foe Cable says. "So dark, you sure you're not from the DC Universe?" Deadpool replies, poking fun at the DCEU's generally dour tone.

Now, DC is firing back through the Twitter page for the upcoming film, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies, by reminding Reynolds' of his own DC past

"Hey @VancityReynolds, caught your new @deadpoolmovie trailer. Never forget - before you became a @Marvel character, you were a part of the @DCComics universe," read the tweet, referencing Reynolds' role as Green Lantern in the 2011 film. It was also accompanied by a clever GIF of the other Green Lantern, John Stewart. "There was a Green Lantern movie...but we don't talk about that," he says. Ouch.

But we're sure Reynolds, who's known for his trolling antics, or his alter-ego Deadpool, will respond with an answer to prove his character's nickname, The Merc With a Mouth. It wouldn't be the first time he's had to talk about the movie fail.

"With Green Lantern, I don’t think anyone ever figured out exactly what it was," he said in an 2016 interview with Entertainment Weekly. "It also fell victim to the process in Hollywood which is like poster first, release date second, script last. At the time, it was a huge opportunity for me so I was excited to try and take part in it."

Deadpool 2 arrives in theaters on May 18, while Teen Titans Go! to the Movies is set to be released on July 27.
