Chrissy Teigen Shut John Legend Down When He Tried to Break Up With Her

Maybe relationships are cool after all.

I don't know a goddamn thing about successful relationships, but it would very much appear that America's true first couple Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are definitely in one. In a new interview with the Guardian, Legend—Trump bullshit caller extraordinaire—opened up about that one time he tried to end the relationship but was met with a perfectly Teigen response instead.

"I was really stressed and busy," Legend recalled. "I was just like: 'I'd just be happier single right now,' and she was like 'No.'" Less than 30 minutes later, Legend added, they were back together again.

"She pushes me to be funnier," Legend said of their relationship. "Not because she's trying to, I think it's just being around her. And to be bolder."

Way back in November (as in, pre-election November, a simpler time indeed), Teigen relayed her side of this hilarious exchange. According to Teigen, Legend had gotten sick on tour at the time and was "feeling bummed" about it. "It was the stress of him having to maybe cancel a show, and he had never been in a real relationship—or so he says now," Teigen toldCosmopolitan. "I always joke, 'Remember when you tried to break up with me?' He's like, 'Yes, sorry. Big mistake.'"

It wasn't a a typical breakup. He was on tour and his voice hurt and he was being a whiny face about everything and so yeah, I was like "no"

Teigen and Legend got married in Italy back in 2013. In the years since, they've gifted Twitter with many classic tweets and helped the jaded among us give this whole relationship thing the benefit of the doubt. In July, Teigen earned the braggable distinction of being blocked by the neo-Nazi-sympathizer-in-chief on Twitter.
