The on-again, off-again production process of Ghostbusters 3 has been maddening for longtime fans of the franchise, but over the last few months we’ve heard very little about the project, and we were starting to think that it would never actually happen. But now Deadline is reporting that director Ivan Reitman will likely shoot the third installment in the Ghostbusters franchise next summer.

Again, everything is still up in the air when it comes to this movie, but the one thing that we’re sure about is that Bill Murray will be nowhere near the project. He has stated on numerous occasions that he won’t be returning to the role of Peter Venkman, with one rumor even suggesting that he tore up a copy of the script when it was sent to him.

As you can see, the production on this movie is going swimmingly. Expect many more Ghostbusters 3 rumors to pop up over the next few months.
