Roddy Ricch is back with an unexpected release. “Aston Martin Truck” is a hypnotic record that finds Roddy floating over a scattered trap beat. On the track, Roddy raps about his luxury cars and growing wealth. Though he brags about his riches at times, Roddy also talks about sharing his wealth with his family and friends. “I’m tryna make another hundred million/Figure out how I’m gon’ bring my brothers in,” he spits. “Aston Martin Truck” could have been a braggadocious record, but instead, Roddy made an inspirational song that is still enjoyable to listen to. The track is expected to appear on his upcoming album, Feed the Streets III, slated to release sometime in November.

Lil Uzi Vert, “Just Wanna Rock”

Lil Uzi Vert is back. “Just Wanna Rock” is a bumping track that finds Lil Uzi Vert dancing over a triumphant, Jersey-type beat. It’s a track that is bound to get you off of your feet. Sure, there’s not too much to the song. The lyrics are very simple, but it’s a party and a club record that just ignites a feel-good attitude. This is a vibe that Lil Uzi has mastered over the years, and he doesn’t disappoint here. Let’s hope this is a direction that Uzi is looking to explore in his next project.

Armani Caesar, “Mel Gibson”

Armani Caesar didn’t come to play. Grisleda’s first lady just dropped her new project, The Liz 2, and it’s full of some heavy-hitters. “Mel Gibson” is a one of those standout bangers that finds the Buffalo rapper delivering hard-hitting and precise bars over simplistic production by Daringer. Armani Caesar cuts through the beat, rapping about street activity and scamming. She’s very gritty and aggressive in her delivery, but still carries an aura of sex appeal and sassiness. Armani is still building up her following, but she definitely is a rapper that everyone should be paying attention to.

Smino, “Matinee”

Smino is one of those artists that you know exactly who it is when one of his songs come on. He has a very distinctive style that’s anchored by his midwestern twang and smooth production. On his latest track, “Matinee,” Smino does what he does best, sliding over Kal Banx production while he spits about riding through St. Louis, drinking, and getting money and women. Smino’s music is a vibe and this song is no different. While his accent makes it difficult to decipher every single word, you  feel compelled to bob your head and ride out to his music nonetheless. Smino may still be climbing the ladder of success, but he is undoubtedly a star.

Ab-Soul f/ Zacari, “Do Better”

“Do Better” is a poetic and soulful track that finds TDE’s Ab-Soul and Zacari joining forces on wax. Over a funky beat, courtesy of Top Dawg and Zacari, Ab-Soul lays down thoughtful bars that touch on topics of self-reflection and spirituality. The rapper also pays homage to Mac Miller, spitting, “Faces playin’ and it’s fuckin’ with me/‘Doin’ drugs, was just a war with boredom, but it’s sure to get me.’” Ab-Soul’s deep tone of voice and repetition on each verse is haunting and persistent. Zacari, on the other hand, soothes listeners with his soft vocals that float throughout the track. “Do Better” is a beautiful and thought-provoking track that will likely appear on Ab-Soul’s next project.

Jeezy & DJ Drama, “Street Cred”

Jeezy and DJ Drama are back on the grind. On “Street Cred,” Jeezy is in his bag spitting verses like he’s back in his heyday. On the track, Jeezy delivers hard-hitting and reflective bars, rapping, “Diamond in the rough, yeah you see/That boy done glowed up/They said you lost yo street cred/You told them pussies so what.” Although Jeezy is removed from the streets, he still feels connected and it comes across in the music. “Street Cred” is a standout from his joint project with DJ Drama, SNOFALL

French Montana & NAV, “Fenty”

“Fenty” is a dizzying record that finds NAV and French Montana joining forces. On the track, NAV kicks the chorus off with braggadocious lines about his jewelry and “VVS diamond that hit like some Fenty.” He also raps about renting out an island and joyriding on jet skis. French Montana brings the high energy, rapping about his houses on different coasts and luxury vehicles. “Fenty” is one of those summer vacation tracks that you played on rotation while laying out at the pool. The track is expected to appear on French Montana’s next project, Coke Boys 6

Monaleo, “Body Bag”

“Body Bag” is a feisty record that finds Monaleo ripping through a rough and haunting beat, produced by Rocaine.  Monaleo is lethal with her bars, leaving no prisoners behind. On the song, she spits with so much energy and aggression that she can’t be ignored. “I don’t give a fuck about the next bitch, she lame/And I don’t give a fuck about that clique that she claim/I’m a whole different bitch, me and her is not the same,” she raps. “Body Bag” is the perfect introduction to Monaleo’s sound as she gears up for her debut album.

NBA YoungBoy is back with yet another project. On his latest, Ma’ I Got a Family (A Gangsta Grillz Special Edition Hosted by DJ Drama), YoungBoy teams up with rap’s star of the moment, Yeat. On “I Don’t Text Back,” YoungBoy delivers a dizzying flow over a soft beat. The best part of the song is when YoungBoy and Yeat harmonize on the chorus, singing, “I want the money like that/I’m gon’ get it, watch how quick I come back.” Elsewhere on the track, Yeat spits a hazy verse. YoungBoy and Yeat are an unexpected duo, but make a great pair nonetheless.
