Almost a year on from his groove-heavy jam “Summer”, South London R&B artist BAELY returns with the mesmerising video for “Pluto”.
Though he’s at a relatively early stage in his career, his understated R&B sound is turning a lot of heads and he already has a formidable CV that includes collaborations with Stormzy, SAULT and Jorja Smith.
On “Pluto” he teams up with producer Jakob 'YAK' Levring, bassist Moyses dos Santos and Charlie Stacey on keys to create a silky, uncluttered sound that’s both charming and effortlessly stylish.
Matching that breezy charisma, director Charlie Rees takes us to California for the visuals where we follow two lovers on a dreamlike road trip down the sprawling highway and through the expansive, golden desert.
Speaking on the video and what inspired it, BAELY shares: “This was one of my most ambitious and exciting visuals to bring together, to date - and ended up being a super special, collaborative project with so many gifted creatives. We wanted to paint a picture of this otherworldly love story that portrays an encounter between a man and an extraterrestrial goddess of some kind... and follow this idea of how a deep, romantic connection can feel transcendental and really take you on a crazy journey beyond the mundane.
