Juice WRLD's Goodbye & Good Riddance, middle finger-assisted artwork and all, is at once a throwback to the breakup records of third-wave emo and a step further in the Lil Uzi Vert-influenced landscape of now. The dude is also adept at proper freestyling, with his latest act of off-the-top quotables landing on Funkmaster Flex's Hot 97 show.
Impressively, WRLD manages to shout-out both Lupe Fiasco and Billy Idol during his seven and a half minutes atop a variation of the "Lucid Dreams" beat. Catch the full freestyle up top. For added fun, do note the guy that's somehow falling asleep around the 7:09 mark. Smh. Get that guy out of the frame!
Last week, WRLD and Uzi linked for the Grand Theft Auto and Satan-nodding collab "Wasted." In the track's sugary post-chorus, WRLD speaks of a woman trying to "get closer to Satan" by talking to the fictional entity whilst "in the Matrix." Uzi adds another layer with his verse, complimenting the song's subject as a "dominatrix" who inspires him to down blue caps to keep up. Simply put, the track's a banger through and through.
With recent chart talk centered almost exclusively on matters of Drakeness, it's easy to miss the fact that WRLD has a legit Hot 100 hit of his own still holding strong. Currently, "Lucid Dreams" is hanging at No. 7, surrounded by new hits from Ariana Grande and the 6 god. "All Girls Are the Same," meanwhile, is sandwiched between two Scorpion cuts at No. 57.
Anyway, Hail Satan.
