ASAP Rocky Drops a New Verse on Producer Lord Fubu Song "Nights Like This"

The song "Nights Like This" dropped on Friday and is a single from Fubu’s eight-track beat tape, 'First Name Lord, Last Name Fubu.' The verse follows ASAP Rocky's album 'Testing,' which dropped in late May.

ASAP Rocky had a new verse on producer Lord Fubu's “Nights Like This,” which dropped Friday night.

The song is from Fubu’s eight-track beat tape, First Name Lord, Last Name Fubu. “Raindrops with nights like this, I wish,” Rocky raps on the hook. During the song’s only verse, he spits, “Jewelers don’t make the ice like this/They don’t shine bright, bright like this/You don’t think twice, twice like this,” over Fubu's ethereal beat.

Late last month, Rocky dropped his latest album Testing, which featured appearances by T.I., Kid Cudi, Skepta, Moby, Frank Ocean, and more. It opened at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 in early June. Following the album, Rocky released the video for the Skepta-supported song “Praise the Lord (Da Shine).”

In a subsequent interview with Beats 1’s Julie Adenuga, Rocky reasserted what he views as the widespread influence of his sound and shared what fans should expect from him next.

“I kinda put myself in an avant-garde art space with just eclectic, artful music-making," Rocky said. "Especially in this day and age, none of my contemporaries or peers are making that kind of music. Nobody's fucking sounds like mine. I'm quite proud of that. I think it's a sound that I've been developing for the past couple of years. Moving forward, I just want to kinda, you know, perfect that sound more,” explaining his desire for wanting to merge genres like “trip-hop, American grime rap, road rap, trap music…even French rap.”
