The Weeknd's surprise six-track album My Dear Melancholy debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart yesterday (April 8), and now he's got another reason to celebrate. The opening track from the album, "Call Out My Name," has debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100, while Drake's "God's Plan" sits at the top spot for the 11th week in a row.
"Call Out My Name" reached the spot mostly thanks to its entrance on the Streaming Songs chart at No. 2 with 40.5 million streams, alongside its performance on the Digital Song Sales chart at No. 4 with 36,000 sales. As Billboard reports, it debuted on the On-Demand Streaming Songs chart with 32.2 million on-demand U.S. clicks, which marks The Weeknd's third No. 1 on the chart. "Can't Feel My Face" and "Starboy" each previously occupied the top spot on the same chart.
My Dear Melancholy's performance on the Billboard 200 albums chart has made it the shortest album by track count to reach No. 1 on the chart in about eight years, which is all the more impressive considering it's still only available on digital platforms such as streaming and downloads. My Dear Melancholy performed very well with 169,000 equivalent album units during its first week.
"God's Plan" just passed Drake's previous chart record of "One Dance," which was at the No. 1 spot on the charts for 10 weeks running.
