GLAAD also announced its 2018 nominees, including Halsey and 'Lady Bird.'

Jay Z's "Smile" will receive a Special Recognition honor at this year's GLAAD Media Awards.

The 4:44 track, which features an outro from Jay's mother, Gloria Carter, will receive the award alongside Esteban Bravo and Beth David's animated short film In a Heartbeat. The track is notable for its revelatory lyrics, including:

Mama had four kids, but she's a lesbian/Had to pretend so long that she's a thespian

In addition to Jay's award, GLAAD announced Friday its full list of 2018 nominees. Lady Bird, Call Me by Your Name, One Mississippi, Miley Cyrus, Halsey, and St. Vincent are among this year's potential honorees for "fair, accurate, and inclusive representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer community and the issues that affect their lives."

During a chat on the D'usse Friday podcast in September, Gloria Carter spoke at length about Jay's "Smile" writing process. "I just finally started telling him who I was," she said. "Besides your mother, this is the person that I am, you know? This is the life that I lived. So my son started actually, like, tearing because he was like, 'That had to be a horrible life, ma.' I was like, 'My life was never horrible. It was just different.' So that made him want to do a song about it."
