Stormy Daniels

Remember Stormy Daniels? She’s the adult-film actress who allegedly had an affair with Trump years ago, while he was married to Melania. She also claims that a longtime Trump lawyer paid her $130,000 dollars as hush money in order to keep quiet about the affair during Trump’s presidential election. The lawyer claims it was his money, but also allegedly complained about not getting reimbursed from Trump, which isn't a great look. Most recently, she and her lawyers argued that since Trump never countersigned her nondisclosure agreement, she’s actually free to tell her story. The story is, evidently, still developing.

The latest bit of news is that Daniels has now launched a fundraising campaign to help cover the legal fees stemming from her ongoing battle to fight the so-called “hush agreement.” In order to void her NDA agreement, she had to file a public lawsuit in Los Angeles, California. The Daily Beast reports that Daniels created a 30-day campaign on Wednesday morning through CrowdJustice to gather the necessary funds.

“I am attempting to speak honestly and openly to the American people about my relationship with now President Donald Trump, as well as the intimidation and tactics that he, together with his attorney Michael Cohen, have used to silence me,” she wrote in the fundraiser’s description.

Daniels claims that each and every time she speaks out about the situation, she is threatened with $1 million dollars in damages. She also again repeated her intention to return the $130,000 that she received from Trump’s lawyer in exchange for freedom to tell her story publicly. This offer, which she extended to Trump and his lawyer recently, has apparently been ignored.

"I am more fortunate than many, many people in this country.  And for that I am grateful,” she wrote. “But unfortunately, I do not have the vast resources to fight Mr. Trump and Mr. Cohen alone.”

At the time of writing, Daniels has already raised around $28,000 from over 1,000 people.
