Over the weekend, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) conducted a mass raid in the Bay Area.

As a result, 150 undocumented immigrants have been arrested by ICE agents in the surrounding area on Sunday, according to CBS San Francisco. The numbers were announced in a press release.

However, the department seeks to arrest and detain many more immigrants in and around San Francisco. In a statement, ICE Deputy Director Thomas Homan—who believes such immigrants are "public safety threats"—added that 864 targeted undocumented immigrants still are remaining to be raided in Northern California by federal law enforcement.

Homan also criticized Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, who alerted her constituents about the impending raid on Saturday.

Americans, both citizens and not-yet citizens, are outraged. For instance, Texas students organized a walk-out to protest a classmate's detention.

Progress, when it comes to immigration reform, has yet to be made. According to NPR, the Supreme Court recently declined to hear, and therefore, table a major case for the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, which protects thousands of young immigrants from deportation even in Trump's America.

However, immigrants remain under siege and unprotected, even during such urgent times. The recent Bay Area raid follows the Supreme Court's recent ruling, which allows immigrants to be detained indefinitely without receiving bond hearings.
